Individual Counseling

We make choices in eating every day, many times a day.
Learning simple strategies to improve these choices can be empowering!

What kinds of services are available?

  • Individual, one on one personal counseling at my office
  • Telephone counseling for patients that are home bound or live at a long distance away
  • Educational classes for patients and health professionals

What can you expect from a counseling session?

An initial evaluation involves a review of the information gathered on your Nutrition and Medical History/Current Client Information Form, which can be found HERE.

This information will be used to thoroughly assess your current lifestyle and dietary habits to identify any urgent issues and help determine which concerns you wish to address first. Personalized nutrition counseling will result in dietary recommendations that are tailored to your specific lifestyle needs, personal beliefs and goals. In other words, changes that will work for you!

My goals for our session(s):

Identify and correct any immediate nutrition problems that are limiting your ability to get enough calories, protein, and nutrients to maintain your strength and immune function.

Provide an overview of the nutrition interventions that are backed by scientific research for your chronic condition. This does not mean that you must wait for the results of clinical trials that prove benefit beyond a shadow of a doubt. However, it is important to look at the strength of the evidence that is available for various options you consider.

Review any vitamin, mineral or herbal supplements you are using or considering, to evaluate those that are worthwhile and those that may be a waste of your money or even dangerous to your health.

Help you prioritize the changes that will be most helpful to you.

Develop a plan that helps you gradually phase in these changes. To work, your plan must be one that you help to develop, based on your own likes and dislikes!

Nutrition is considered a complementary therapy, one that adds to your primary, medical interventions.

Rates/Fees : Initial Evaluation: $90.00

Includes:

  • Review of your "Nutritional and Medical History Form"
  • Developing an individualized Nutritional Plan to meet your goals
  • Printed educational materials supporting the nutritional goals established in the session
  • You welcome to share this visit with a friend, though this may limit the time available to develop your individualized plan

Contact us if you have special circumstances for payment options.

Follow-Up Visits for Continuing Clients:

$80.00 for hour long sessions
$50.00 for 30 minute sessions

To benefit the most  from your nutritional counseling, at least one follow-up appointment is recommended.

These follow-up visits can help you with any difficulties you have run into while implementing your new eating habits. These "problems" are actually opportunities to learn about the barriers in the way of your success. Meal plans and diet recommendations can be adjusted or expanded as needed.

Always keep your primary health care provider informed of any changes you are making. The recommendations I will make during these sessions are for your education and information, and should be reviewed with your doctor, not used as a substitute for medical advice from your physician. My advice is never intended to diagnose, treat, mitigate or cure any disease.
